Seeing the gradual change in Cedrick’s expression, Joe added, “Don’t waste your energy. Do you really think the

lab’s security is flawless? I’ll be honest with you. I planted a mole in the lab a long time ago. All the lab equipment is

Joe burst into a maniacal laugh while Cedrick stayed silent and continued making the phone calls.

his control.

After a considerable pause, Cedrick finally put away his gun with a solemn face. He then turned to Swain and

instructed, “Ensure Megan’s safety. Release his people, and you guys stay put in the mountains.”

Swain was shocked. “Boss!”

“Just do as I say,” Cedrick grimly snapped.

His dark orbs had an unfathomable glint, and he was exuding an icy aura, leaving Swain unable to comprehend

what he was trying to do.

Obedience to orders was the foremost rule. Hence, Swain had no choice but to release the people he captured.

After Joe’s man helped him up, he made another request. “Prepare a car for me. Your men aren’t allowed to

follow.”

“Give him a car.”

While Swain was reluctant, he dared not defy Cedrick’s orders. All he could do was watch Cedrick’s hands. being

than the pain I’ve gone through! I want to take you to Eryn’s grave to repent!”

Cedrick knew Joe would not harm him. However, it was beyond his expectation that the latter had done so much

just so that he could take him to Eryn’s grave.

love with your wife, so much so that you’re willing to risk your life for her. Your status is much more unique than

mine. Doesn’t that make you even more foolish?”

Cedrick’s face turned cold. “Gwendolyn isn’t the same as Eryn,” he enunciated.

“What isn’t the same?” Joe roared in agitation. “Just because you love Gwendolyn, you go all out at cherishing her.

Your heart would break even if she merely bleeds a drop. But you have no love for Eryn. That’s why you trampled

on her feelings for you and caused her death!”

Cedrick looked into Joe’s eyes in silence.

Furious, the latter snarled, “Cedrick! I want you to kneel down and apologize to Eryn! Are you going to do

it?”

Cedrick harrumphed lightly and unhurriedly revealed the truth of what happened back then.

“Previously, I didn’t tell you the truth because I was worried it’d break your heart. It was also beyond my

imagination that you would sacrifice yourself in the subsequent missions. Regarding Eryn’s matter, I have been

It turned out that the Eryn that Joe talked about was a girl who got abducted into the borderland. The two men
