In the downpour, Cedrick followed Swain to see Gwendolyn’s car that went off-road.

It was a light green Maserati.

Since Gwendolyn loved green, he gifted her this limited edition car for their third anniversary.

It was indeed her car.

With his red-rimmed eyes, he stared fixedly at the damaged car. The raindrops got caught on his eyelashes,

blurring his vision.

He always remembered how Gwendolyn cherished this car. She would drive the car almost every day, yet it

remained pristine as if it were brand new.

Just what did she encounter in Orchidbay Tunnel that made her car spiral out of control?

A group of soldiers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation surrounded the car. Braving the rain, they inspected

the car for any signs of suspicious stuff.

Taking an umbrella from the person beside him, Swain silently stood by Cedrick’s side, shielding the latter from the

rain.

Cedrick’s aura was so heavy that it beat the gloominess of the rain. Feeling his heart breaking for Cedrick, Swain

stared at his boss.

“Don’t worry, Boss. Mrs. Jenson is capable. No one is inside the car, anyway, which proves she’s still alive. We can

surely find her.”

Enduring the pain, Cedrick spoke, his voice hoarse.

“How’s the search going? Have you searched around the canyon?”

Looking down, Swain let out a sigh. “Mrs. Jenson’s car lost control before the rain started. Luckily, we found the car

earlier. Otherwise, the heavy rain would’ve washed away the traces of the car. There’s mud everywhere now, so

it’s hard for us to find any traces, but we’ve already checked the area and even have a tracking dog with us. We

found no bloodstains, so Mrs. Jenson should be unharmed.”

Slowly, Cedrick heaved a sigh of relief.

No bloodstains. Unharmed. These are good news.

“Continue searching. Arrange a tow truck and bring this car back for inspection. See if there are any additional

fingerprints or footprints on the car.”

I need to know if Gwenny got out of the car herself or was forced by someone else.

Only if she encountered an uncontrollable, dangerous situation would she voluntarily speed down the hill.

Filled with self-loath, Cedrick tightened his fists, his veins bulging out.

The afternoon before this incident, he was upset that Gwendolyn spoke up for Charles. Little did he know that she

would go missing a few hours after that.

I should’ve been by her side…

“New info, Mr. Jenson. We found Mrs. Jenson’s phone in the car!”

As he was lost in thoughts, someone rushed toward him.

To not obstruct the fingerprint or any usage traces, the police sealed the device inside a transparent bag and

handed it to Cedrick.

Taking it, Cedrick stared at the shattered phone.

Furrowing his brows, he touched the phone with his fingertip.

Throughout the journey, he had called Gwendolyn’s phone countless times, but it did not indicate that her phone

was switched off. Rather, it had a weak signal, as she was out of the reception range.

Despite the phone being shattered, the GPS tracker was still functioning; Swain could easily find it.

Cedrick got terrified the more he thought about it. “This is not Gwenny’s phone,” he stated in a heavy tone.

Before things happened, someone else was in her car.

Swain’s breath hitched. “If that’s not hers, then… could Mrs. Jenson be kidnapped?”

Until they found her, anything could be possible.

Handing the phone to Swain, Cedrick coldly instructed, “Call for a tow truck and return to the Federal Bureau of

Investigation. Overlook no detail of the car.”

“Yes.”

Just when Swain was about to offer him the umbrella, Cedrick already turned around and left in the rain. He

seemed unusually desolate.

Swain’s heart broke for him, and he was also concerned about Gwendolyn. Obeying Cedrick’s instruction, he

arranged a tow truck.

On the other side, Cedrick did not walk too far from the scene when his phone rang.

Fishing his phone out, he saw that the call was from Charles.

However, he was lost in his thoughts and just stared at the screen instead of answering the call.

What followed Gwendolyn’s disappearance would be a series of difficult questions.

Where did Gwendolyn go? Could her disappearance be related to the tragic massacre of the Cloud family?

Charles and Nico were at the laboratory, comforting Benedict and Zendaya. They were waiting for news from

Cedrick, but what could he tell the children when Gwendolyn was still missing?

Still in a daze, he stared at the phone screen.

His wife could not be found—that was the most crucial problem.

Suppressing his distress, he declined Charles’ call and replied with a text message instead.

Cedrick: I’m busy now. Take care of the kids. Don’t bring them back to the Jenson residence; just let them sleep in

the lab. Have Nico go to Harrick Villa and pack some clothes for the kids. As for the kindergarten, arrange a leave

for Zendy. In precarious times like this, the lab is the safest place.

Even though his fingers were trembling, he forced himself to remain composed, smoothly typing the text message

before sending it to Charles.

Before he could even put his phone away, he received another notification.

Charles: Where is Gwen? Are you not going to take care of Benny and Zendy today?

Cedrick re-read the first question in the text message, and his eyes turned red in the rain.

Gathering himself, he typed out another response: She’s doing great. She’s helping me with the investigation.

Salinsburgh isn’t safe lately. Please take care of the kids for me.

After sending the text message, Cedrick switched off his phone for some peace and quiet.

Benny and Zendy will be fine in the lab. I need to focus on searching for my wife. I’ll not stop worrying as long as

I’m uncertain of her safety.

With his mind remaining fuzzy, he exited the canyon and hailed a cab to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

After a few minutes, Swain followed back to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The tow truck also brought

Gwendolyn’s car back.

Even though the exterior of the car was severely damaged, the interior was relatively intact.

After a thorough examination, the specialists found different fingerprints on the backseat of the car.

“Mr. Jenson, somebody was indeed in the backseat of the car before the incident. The phone isn’t Mrs. Jenson’s as

well; her phone is nowhere to be found. Also, there are no signs of a struggle in the car, and there was no usage of

sharp tools.”

Swain handed the evidence list to Cedrick, adding, “We’ve already checked all the surveillance cameras nearby the

scene. Ms. Harris’ car was in a blind spot when it went off-road, so we couldn’t find out what happened before

that.”

With a serious expression, Cedrick flipped the printed surveillance images.

When he reached the fourth page, Swain continued, “I’ve also checked the surveillance from Harris Group’s parking

lot until before the incident happened. When Mrs. Jenson left Harris Group, no one else was in the car with her. She

drove to the bridge and stopped there for a few minutes. After that, a figure can be vaguely spotted in the car with

her. It seems to be a man.”

Cedrick studied the zoomed-in photos and shook his head.

“It can’t be a man. Gwenny is highly alerted. If she sees a bulky man who she thinks poses a threat, there’s no way

she would’ve stopped to offer him a ride.”

Moreover, she knew how possessive Cedrick was, so she would keep her distance from other men.

She would not use her favorite car to give any man a ride.

On the contrary, if it were women, children, or the elderly, Gwendolyn would only offer them a ride if they were in

danger or encountered any difficulty.

Seemingly getting his point, Swain pondered.

The office fell silent for a while before Swain asked, “Could there be another possibility, Boss? Could Mrs. Jenson

bump into someone she’s familiar with?”
