Chapter 82 I’m Back to Retrieve My Belongings

After lying down for a while, Caroline heard a knock on the door some ten minutes later. It was Lily,

carrying a tray of food with a bright smile on her face. “You’re finally home, Ms. Shenton.”

Caroline sat up and offered a flat smile. “I’m just back to get some stuff, Lily.”

Lily sighed as she placed the food on the bedside table. “It would be great if you stayed.”

Caroline fell silent for a moment. “Is Daniella giving you a hard time?”

Lily forced a smile and remained silent, handing her the cooled–down soup.

“I can see that you’ve lost more weight. You should stay here for a while and let me nurse you back to

health,” Lily suggested.

Caroline took a sip of the soup and licking her lips before asking. “Tell me the truth, Lily, Has Daniella

been causing trouble for you?”

“It’s unavoidable.” Lily sighed. “I often wish you’d come back.”

Caroline drank another sip of soup and licked her lips. “I can’t come back, Lily. But I believe I can chase

Daniella out. You must help me with this.”

She lifted her head to look at Lily. Her clear eyes filled with determination

Lily widened her eyes in shock. “Ms Shenton, the reason you’re doing this.

Caroline took a deep breath and recounted all the things Daniella had done to Katie briefly.

Lily couldn’t contain her anger after hearing the whole story. “I can do it, Ms. Shenton. Let me come up

with a plan on how to do it.”

Caroline nodded and expressed her gratefulness to Lily.

At 1 a.m., Caroline looked up from her phone as the door opened.

Daniella entered the room with bloodshot eyes

Approaching the bed, Daniella spoke in a lowered voice. “Do you have no shame, Caroline?!”

Caroline stared back expressionlessly. “You’re shameless too, so why can’t I be?”

Fists clenched, Daniella seethed, “Aren’t you here to grab your stuff?! Why haven’t you left? Why must

you steal someone’s fiancé? I’ve never met anyone as malicious as you!”

Caroline scoffed. “I don’t recall being the one who wanted to stay. Evan asked me to because he’s

fall.”

Daniella trembled with anger. “Aren’t you scared that I’ll expose your shameless behavior on the

internet?!”

“Go ahead!” Caroline replied nonchalantly. “I’m already the infamous mistress. Do you think I’m.

afraid of a little criticism like that?”

“You’re threatening me? What gives you the audacity, Caroline?!” Daniella was on the verge of

losing control, her face contorted in fury.

Caroline scoffed once more. “You destroyed my family. Why wouldn’t I dare?”

Daniella was ready to tear her apart. But then, she suddenly paused as she noticed the long hair

cascading down Caroline’s back.

She had almost forgotten about the Xanders because of Nic!

She knew very well of her status. If Evan said no, there was no way that she could drive Caroline

away.

Instead of wasting her energy being pissed here, she would win the Xanders‘ hearts first.

Also, now that Caroline was here, it was the perfect cover for her to steal some of MK’s secrets just

like Nic suggested.

Unknowingly, Caroline even saved her the effort to get her to the office!

A strange calm washed over her face as she thought about this. “Sure, let’s see. Let’s see who will

come out on top in the end!” ”

With that, she turned to leave.

Caroline narrowed her eyes. Judging by Daniella’s character, she knew she wouldn’t leave so

easily.

She turned off the lights and lay down with a sense of skepticism.

As she smelled Evan’s scent lingering on the blanket, a strange comfort washed over her. She knew

that moving on from a relationship wouldn’t be easy.

Caroline woke up well past 10 a.m., feeling refreshed from a good night’s sleep. After freshening up,

she went downstairs, making sure to tidy up the bed before leaving her room.

In the dining area, Daniella was already having breakfast at the table. Caroline took a seat across from

her, treating her as if she were invisible.

Lily served Caroline the breakfast she had heated up, smiling warmly. “Mr. Jordan asked me to make

your favorite breakfast, Ms. Shenton.”

Caroline was taken aback. It was difficult to determine if Lily’s friendliness was genuine after their

conversation last night. Nonetheless, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction as she noticed

Daniella’s increasingly jealous gaze.

With a smile, Caroline met her gaze head–on. “Sure, I’ll thank him for his love later.”

Bam!

Daniella slammed her cutlery down in anger and stormed off upstairs.

Caroline turned to Lily and instructed her, “Lily, go to her on my behalf. We’ll talk through

WhatsApp.

Lily nodded and hurriedly went upstairs.

As Daniella seized the opportunity to search for Caroline’s hair in Evan’s room, she heard

footsteps approaching from the stairs. Her heart skipped a beat, and she swiftly retreated back to

the guest room.

Lily walked to Evan’s room to pretend to clean. When she got upstairs, she saw Daniella’s door being

shut.

She quickly sent a text to Caroline, informing her, “She’s in her room.”

Caroline frowned upon reading the message. It seemed that her plan could only be executed when

Daniella took a shower in the evening.
