Chapter 988

Nonetheless, he felt that he was just as easily manipulated by her and just couldn’t escape.

Suddenly, Callum put the ointment back into Lillian’s hand. “Apply it yourself!” After saying that, he went upstairs

and entered his bedroom without waiting for her to react.

Bang!

After slamming the door shut, Callum leaned against the back of the door and raked his fingers through his hair in

frustration.

“Why am I always so weak in front of her? I seem to be at her mercy and willingly allow her to control me.”

During dinner at the White residence, Lillian found that all the dishes were catered to her taste. There were

homemade dishes she used to like in Strico and also some specialties from Jacaster.

It was not surprising that there were dishes from Jacaster here, but the Strico-based dishes needed to be cooked by

a cook who was familiar with them. Lillian ate the food happily, sneaking a glance at Callum from time to time. In

the end, she simply stared at him openly.

‘This is great… Now, I can sit next to him and have dinner together. It would be

if we could be like this in the future.

great

In fact, we won’t be alone. Our children would eat with us and everyone would talk about the interesting things that

happened to them every day. The thought alone delighted Lillian.

“Of course, it would be better if there were more than one child.”

Thinking of this, Lillian couldn’t help but smile. Juxtaposed against her swollen red cheeks, the smile made her look

a little foolish.

Callum raised his head and glanced at Lillian, who was smiling. “What are you thinking?”

“I was wondering how many children we will have in the future,” Lillian replied smoothly.

Callum was stunned and then suddenly sneered, “What makes you so sure that I will forgive you after a month and

be with you?” Despite his words, he inexplicably didn’t resent the thought of how many children they would have in

the future.

Lillian was jolted back to her senses as if she had been splashed with cold water.

“I’m not certain. I was just… just…” She bit her lip and didn’t know how to explain herself.

The look on her face annoyed him again. “All right, you don’t have to explain.

Let’s eat.”

Lillian lowered her head and ate a few mouthfuls of food. Suddenly, when she thought of something, she looked up

and said, “Callum, it will be your birthday in three days. Can I…”

“No!” he interrupted her before she could finish. “Lillian, if you want me to take you to my birthday banquet, you

can give up on the idea. In what capacity will you attend it? As my ex-girlfriend?”

Lillian’s grip on her fork tightened as her face turned pale. “I… I know. I… I wasn’t thinking about attending your

birthday banquet. I was just wondering if I could have cake with you after you return from the birthday banquet. I…

I will prepare the cake. I just… I just want to celebrate your birthday with you.”

Looking at her meek demeanor, Callum didn’t feel happy at all. All he felt was a sense of frustration that made it

difficult for him to breathe.

“She wants to share a birthday cake with me? Is that all?”

Once upon a time, she smiled and said to him, “Callum, I will prepare cakes for your birthday every year, alright? I’ll

eat a piece of your birthday cake on every birthday until my hair turns gray and my teeth fall off!”

“Every birthday? So, you’re sure that you’ll grow old with me?”

“Weren’t you the one who said that we’re not allowed to break up now that we’re together? Look, I’m not going to

break up with you. I will be yours for the rest of my life!”

“Okay, then stay with me forever. You’re not allowed to leave.”

Lillian’s words from back then echoed in his ears still. He didn’t expect that they would break up, let alone for it to

be suggested by himself.

“If you think you can wait up, then go ahead, but I don’t know what time I will be back,” Callum said harshly.

His words made her pale face regain its rosiness. Her originally pitiful expression was replaced by one of joy. “I will

wait for you no matter how late it is!” She flashed a smile the moment she finished.

The smile on her swollen cheeks was still so stupid, yet he was somehow captivated by it.

At night, Callum closed his eyes and lay on the bed. However, he wasn’t feeling sleepy, as his mind filled with

Lillian’s voice and smile.
