“It’s true! I swear I’m telling you the truth!”

Gwen burst out laughing. “You’d better be! God will surely find lots of ways to punish you if you hide something from

me.”

“I have nothing to hide,” said Sean.

He wished he could just pluck his heart out and give it to Gwen. “I swear to God!”

“Fine then. I believe you since you’ve never lied to me.”.

Sean could finally relax now. “Then we’ll-”

“Let’s not talk about us,” Gwen stopped him.

“We should be talking about Carol and Krik now.”

She sat on a chair and asked, “Can’t we do anything at all? Should we really just watch Carol marry Eddy?”

“Michael said that Caroline should regain her memories on her own,” Sean replied.

“All we can do is wait.”

“I really hope she can get back her memories,” said Gwen.

All of a sudden, something popped up in her mind. “Oh right! Will she be able to get over Mr. Morrison Senior’s

death if she regains her memories?”

Sean couldn’t answer that.

“I still don’t think it’s right to make her lose her memories. But that was the only choice at that time.”

“Yeah, you’re right…” Gwen mumbled. The future was uncertain, and they could only take one step at a

time.

After they hung up, Gwen received a call from Caroline.

“Gwen, you’ve got to help me.” Caroline’s voice was hushed as if she were hiding away in a corner.

If Gwen had guessed it right, Caroline was probably in the washroom right now.

After agreeing to marry Eddy, Caroline had started feeling restless and uneasy. She had ended up making

up an excuse to go to the washroom to call Gwen..

“What’s wrong, Carol?” Gwen’s voice was laced with concern.

“I …” Caroline couldn’t stop herself from feeling annoyed as she stared at the ring on her finger.

“Gwen, can you tell me what I’ve forgotten?

“Why don’t I feel happy in the least when Eddy proposed to me?

“And why do I feel like I’ve done something wrong? Why do I feel this way, Gwen?”

Gwen sighed. “Carol, you’ve got to calm down. Let me ask you something. Do you want to marry Eddy?”

Caroline sat on the toilet. “I’m not sure. This should have been what I’ve been longing for. Since I was 16 years old,

everybody has been telling me that I will marry Eddy one day.”

“But why don’t I feel happy in the least after wearing the ring.he gave me?”

She added, “I’m thinking that this has something to do with the memories I’ve lost.”

“Yeah,” Gwen said, helpless.

“Don’t think about the past yet. Think carefully, do you want to marry Eddy?”

“Can I remember everything when I’ve thought this through?” asked Caroline.

“Gwen, I really want to get back all those memories. Right now, I feel like … I don’t know where I came

from.”

And it was precisely because of this that Caroline didn’t know where she was headed in life. Maybe she wouldn’t be

so clueless if she got her memories back.

“Listen to me, Carol. Those memories aren’t important to you,” Gwen tried to convince her.

“What’s important is for you to decide whether you want to spend the rest of your life with Eddy. Do you

get it?”

“Stop thinking about the past,” said Gwen.

“Let bygones be bygones. What you should be focusing on is the future.”

Caroline lowered her eyes. She/wanted to focus on the future, but she had no clue about her past. How was she

supposed to plan her future then?

She wasn’t even sure if she wanted to marry Eddy or not.
