It was a woman.

She looked sweet and innocent, with the latest Chanel bag draped over her shoulder. She seemed quite nervous as well, as she couldn't help but fidget with her fingers.

"Angel," Josie greeted.

"Ms. Jo..." It turned out that she wasn't dining alone with Morgan. Instead, they were a group of four.

Ryan and Angel sat across from her. They exchanged glances for a while and only then did she finally call the waiter over. "Let's order first." The meal was not a pleasant affair. Seizing the opportunity to have a smoke, Morgan lured Ryan away, leaving Josie and Angel at the table.

Angel was somewhat restless. She lowered her head and said, “Ms. Jo, I know you're unhappy with my choice." Josie was really hungry. While eating, she asked, "What choice? What right do I have to be unhappy with your choice?" Angel lowered her head even further. "I did break up with Ryan at that time. But when something happened to my family, he was the only one who stepped forward to help." "You don't have to explain all this to me." Josie glanced at her. "I wanted to see you not to interrogate you. I just wanted to ask, are you happy now?" The innocence that once resided in Angel's eyes two years ago was no longer there. Instead, what filled them now was an overwhelming weariness built up over time.

"I am. After marrying him, I don't have to work anymore. All I need to do is to take care of our home. I mean, look at me. I look good, right?" Josie gave a slight nod, holding back the flood of words she wanted to say. All she managed to utter was, "As long as you're happy, that's all that matters." Upon hearing this, Angel couldn't help but choke up.

"Over these years, I've often dreamed of you. I know I've let you down, and I've also disappointed myself. But... I really had no choice. I'm not as fortunate as you. Ryan is the best opportunity I could grab onto." Josie found it somewhat hard to swallow her food.

She pulled out a tissue and wiped her fingers clean.

"I noticed earlier when you both walked in, not a single word was exchanged between you two. Angel, is he treating you well?" Upon hearing this, Angel didn't respond directly. She gently touched her still flat belly. "I'm pregnant, Ms. Jo." Josie swallowed her words once more. "As long as you're happy, that's all that matters..." When old friends crossed paths again, the expectation was for minimal awkwardness. Yet, the reality proved to be far more uncomfortable than anticipated. Josie had no desire to speak and the meal did not bring her any joy. Ryan took Angel back home.

Josie crouched in the corner of the restaurant entrance, and Morgan offered her a cigarette. "Want one?" Josie glanced over. "This one's too strong for me. I'm not used to smoking it." "What are you smoking?" "Doral." Morgan nodded. "People change. All the hustle and bustle is for personal gain." "I haven't changed at all." "You didn't use to smoke." The two exchanged a glance and laughed mockingly.

Morgan suggested they take a stroll. As they walked, they surprisingly ended up by the moat. Standing on the bridge, Josie observed the e vibrant lights and bustling nightlife on the opposite shore. Compared to the quiet solitude of their current location, it seemed as if they were looking at a completely different world. "Russell Group is a major taxpayer in Wavery. Even if the state government wants to take action against Dexter, they will have fo consider the reputation of the city. Don't worry," Morgan said abruptly. Josie looked at him.

"Why are you looking atlike that? Isn't this exactly what you're worried about?" Josie averted her gaze. "And what about you? Who's got your back? Is it Mr. Zabel? Or Mr. Witherspoon? Are they from Rivodia, Wavery, or Newcove?" Josie sounded somewhat aggressive. With a hint of a smile in his eyes, Morgan asked, "What do you think?"
